Cookie Policy

1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Local storage is a similar mechanism that persists between visits. Both are used for preferences, security, measurement, and (when enabled) advertising.
2. Categories we use today
- Strictly necessary: Cloudflare security cookies (
__cf_bm,cf_clearance,_cfuvid) required to deliver the site. Cannot be disabled. - Functional (local storage, not cookies):
mm-theme(theme),motormath-settings(display currency),mm-recent(last 8 calculators opened — names and links only) andmm-compare:<tool>(Compare scenarios, which include the figures you typed). All stay on your device and are never sent to us. Clear them from the privacy page. - Consent record (InMobi Choice):
euconsent-v2,IABGPP_HDR_GppStringandusprivacystore your advertising and analytics consent choices, set by our consent management platform (InMobi Choice) and kept for up to 13 months so you are not asked again on every page. They are strictly necessary — a site must remember your choice — and hold no identifier that we can read. - Our own usage measurement (no cookie): we measure calculator usage with a single cookie-less request that carries no identifier and never the figures you enter — so no consent is required for it.
- Analytics cookies — optional, off until you consent: Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps and session replay) tells us which parts of a calculator people struggle with. It is loaded only after you consent through the InMobi Choice consent message. Until then no Clarity script runs, no request reaches
clarity.ms, and none of its cookies exist._clck— persists a Clarity user id for the site (about 1 year)._clsk— groups the page views of one visit (about 1 day).- Microsoft may set further cookies on its own
clarity.msandbing.comdomains once the script has loaded.
- Advertising: not currently enabled. Google AdSense would run only after consent if added.
Third-party privacy policies
- Microsoft Privacy Statement (covers Clarity)
- Google (Analytics + AdSense) Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare Privacy Policy
If advertising is enabled later
You may manage personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or opt out via Your Online Choices (EU) and NAI (US).
3. Managing cookies
- Browser controls: all modern browsers let you view, restrict, or delete cookies. Disabling strictly necessary Cloudflare cookies may prevent the site from loading.
- Withdrawing analytics consent: use the Cookie preferences link in the footer, which reopens the InMobi Choice consent message so you can change your choices. Set analytics to off and Clarity stays off. To delete the
_clck/_clskcookies already set, also clear cookies for this site in your browser. - Declining: choosing to decline (or simply ignoring the consent message) sets no analytics cookie at all. The calculators work identically either way.
4. Legal basis
Strictly necessary cookies are processed under legitimate interests for security and service delivery. Microsoft Clarity's analytics cookies are set only with your consent under UK PECR, the EU ePrivacy Directive, and UK/EU GDPR, and that consent can be withdrawn at any time as described above. If advertising is added, it will also rely on your consent.
